All of you probably remember the nervousness and excitement you felt during your first technical interview. By volunteering as an industry professional mock interviewer, you now have the opportunity to help dozens of junior developers who are in the same situation, and to potentially change their lives!

Each of our developers has completed a rigorous 6+ month software development program where they learned HTML/CSS, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, React/Redux, and data structures/algorithms. They are all motivated and eager to receive feedback, so if you're interested in contributing to the development of junior developers worldwide by volunteering as a Microverse Mock Interviewer, please read on!

Who We're Looking For

The most important thing we're looking for is a willingness to help students succeed! Our students have devoted themselves to improving their interview skills--if you want to help them, then we want to talk to you!

We're especially looking for mid-to-senior level developers to mock interview our students. Ideally, you will have had at least 3+ years of professional experience in the above languages, and some experience conducting interviews for web developers yourself. If this sounds like you (or if you know someone else who might be interested), then we would love to hear from you!

What Will the Mock Interview Look Like?

Every mock interview is going to be a little different, just like every real interview will be a little different! That being said, mock interviews should ideally last an hour, and should include behavioral questions, technical questions, and coding challenges.

We’re happy to provide sample questions/challenges, but you're welcome to ask your own mix of behavioral and technical questions, too!

I'd Love to Help Junior Developers! How Can I Sign Up?

Thank you! In order to become one of our mock interviewers, please fill out this short Airtable form. We will also ask you to include a calendar link on your preferred scheduling tool (if you don’t have one, we highly recommend Calendly, which is a free tool that makes scheduling across timezones quick and easy). Students will use your calendar link to request interview times that fit into your schedule.

What Happens Next?

When we have a student ready for an interview, we will reach out to you via email to introduce the student. They will then use your calendar link to suggest a time that works for you. Once you've completed the interview, we also ask that you fill out a Mock Interview Feedback form, so that we can use your feedback to help students improve.

Again, thank you for being willing to mock interview our students; every mock interview gets our students a little closer to their goal of landing a fantastic dev job, and we are incredibly grateful that you've volunteered your time to help them!
