Level Up is a set of learning resources distributed in a curated virtual world. Going through this virtual world, you will build a stronger foundation in software development, web development, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You'll also meet other applicants and coordinators throughout Level Up, which will help you learn in a collaborative and interactive way.
While Microverse doesn't require you to have any prior coding experience, we do need all applicants to have the same baseline knowledge that we assess during the Coding Challenges.
πββοΈ What's the purpose of Level Up?
There are two very strong reasons for Level Up to be part of your application journey.
1οΈβ£ To level up your technical skills
Level Up has been designed to allow applicants with little to zero experience in coding, to learn what they need to pass the coding challenges in the application to Microverse.
2οΈβ£ To learn what Microverse will be like as a student
In the Level Up environment, you will encounter other applicants to the program and you will be expected to collaborate with them in a driver/navigator capacity. Exactly like you'll have to do during the Microverse Trials - and what you'll do daily after being admitted to Microverse.
π€·π½ββοΈ Is Level Up for me?
Absolutely! Here are some reasons for you to try it out:
You feel that your coding skills are a bit rusty
You'd like to learn more about coding before trying the challenges
You want to see if pair programming is for you
You're not ready to join Microverse yet, but want to maintain your coding skills and habits
You're excited to work with other applicants to Microverse
You would like to meet people from all over the world with similar goals as you
You can start Level Up as soon as you have signed up to Microverse. Keep in mind that the Level Up space is only available to 100 concurrent users, so we suggest you plan accordingly to join.
ππ½ββοΈ Do I have to go through Level Up?
No, you do not have to go through Level Up. It is a completely optional step, but we find that applicants who gained experience with pair programming during Level Up receive more positive feedback from their peers during the Microverse Trials π
