First of all, we will never charge you anything unless you first get a job as a software developer making at least $1,000 a month. Even in that case, you will never have to pay us more than 15% of your monthly salary or $15,000 in total. Simply put, if you're not in a better place financially based upon your experience with Microverse, there's no reason we should be either.
Secondly, whether applying to Microverse or another educational institution, we believe any educational decision should be looked at as an investment, not a cost. Most universities and bootcamps require you to invest both your own time and money upfront—regardless of whether you get a job or not. On the other hand, your main investment with Microverse is your time.
The average investment with Microverse
So far, our students have obtained salaries in the range of $3,000 to $5,000 per month. Their previous salaries were in the range of $1,500 to $3,000 per month. That means that, after completing the Microverse program, they have increased their salaries by around 2x, or by $18,000 to $24,000 per year. Even after paying the Microverse income share of 15%, students are still, on average, taking home an additional $20,000 per year in increased income.
Assuming that you will work for 40 years, that is an increase of $720,000 to $960,000 throughout your professional career. And that's not even considering any salary raises you'll likely receive!

You can learn to code for free on Udemy or freeCodeCamp
We love Udemy, freeCodeCamp, and all of the readily available MOOCs (massive online open courses). In fact, most of our current students came to Microverse after trying to learn with free resources such as freeCodeCamp.
After trying for weeks or months, they were frustrated, easily distracted, and missed the support, accountability, and structure that traditional education provides and online education usually lacks.
It’s really hard to stay motivated and focused for a long period of time when you have no one to test your knowledge, no one to support you when you have questions, and no peers to share the journey with you.
Microverse combines the best of both worlds
We offer our program for free until you get a job so that everyone gets an equal opportunity, and we do everything online and remotely so that, no matter where you are in the world, you can join our program.
We assign you a mentor who will provide motivation as you start your journey with Microverse, code reviewers who will help you improve your code, a coding partner that will make sure you show up every morning, and a curated curriculum that guarantees that you are learning exactly what's necessary to get a job (remember if you don't get a job, we don't get paid anything!), a Student Success team that will make sure that nothing stops you during your learning process, and a professional career coach that will work with you for as long as it takes for you to get an amazing job.
We also have created collaborative, peer-to-peer systems where students help and mentor other students, making for a better experience where, as a Microverse student, you get the chance to internalize your own knowledge by helping others, develop strong leadership skills, and improve your oral and written communication abilities.
Even with those collaborative dynamics in place, we still have to find and retain people all around the world that fit our criteria. We are very selective—less than 1% of the people who apply are invited to join the Program. We also have code reviewers, a student success team, and professional career coaches to help you succeed.
If you think everything Microverse has to offer is a good investment in yourself, then we are happy to invest in you too.
If not, we recommend that you try some free alternatives first (we love freeCodeCamp and The Odin Project). We will always welcome you back if you ever need help in the future.
